Resiliency Services

We want students to bring their full selves to school

That means being able to provide for all parts of them. Through Resiliency Services (RS), our two full-time, in-house Resilience Specialists (licensed adolescent mental health clinicians) focus on removing barriers to learning.

They provide comprehensive mental, emotional, and behavioral health counseling for students and families, connect basic needs insecure families with supportive services, and facilitate social-emotional skill-building workshops for students and staff on topics such as healthy conflict management, emotional safety plans, and recognizing implicit biases.

Resilience Specialists conduct basic needs assessments of students at the beginning of the school year and use this tool to determine individualized support needs for each student, such as a parenting or pregnant student. They serve as advocates for adjudicated youth and help them navigate the court system.

I’ve been going to the Resiliency Specialist since I was a freshman. [By my junior year], you could see how much I was able to open up and enjoy and be comfortable talking through my personal life with him. I have anxiety and that was one of the reasons I went to him.

Going to Resiliency Services helped me worry a little less, and helped me cope better with my anxiety—it helped me realize that I can be happy.
