Shavonne was promoted to this role after five years spent as the principal of Vaux Big Picture High School. During the first year of Shavonne’s leadership at Vaux, she set a goal to increase the percentage of students obtaining internships from 45% to 70%. Vaux exceeded that goal two years in a row.

Now in her twentieth year as a school leader and educator, Shavonne got her start at Simon Gratz High School in 2005 as an English teacher. Prior to becoming a principal, Shavonne also served as a school-based teacher leader, department chair, and instructional dean. In 2009, Shavonne received a Lindback Teacher of the Year Award and received the Lindback Distinguished Principal award in 2021.

Shavonne is a Morgan State University and UPenn graduate and recently completed her doctorate in education at Drexel University.
