Since 2008, Big Picture Philadelphia has been providing holistic, individualized, real-world learning to an average of 425 high-school age youth in Philadelphia each year. Through our two schools, El Centro and Vaux Big Picture High Schools, we prepare students for success during and after high school:
- 10% of all Opportunity Youth in Philadelphia who have earned high school diplomas since 2013 are El Centro graduates
- 90%+ of 12th graders at Vaux have graduated each year starting with Vaux’s inaugural Class of 2021
EL C History
El Centro was previously in the Kensington neighborhood for over thirteen years but never had a permanent building. After relocating in the area three times, El Centro had to temporarily leave its home neighborhood. In 2022, we started our search for a modern, state-of-the art forever home. This dream is now a reality with the completion of Phase One of construction of a 28,284 square foot education and workforce development center.
