Mentor Spotlight: Laura Deutch
Laura Deutch is a Philadelphia-based artist, educator, and cultural organizer committed to using media as a tool for social justice, creative expression, and community building. Her projects traverse digital and analog mediums to investigate the relationships between people, places, and their stories. Currently, as the Education Director at PhillyCAM she oversees workshops and works closely with nonprofits and city partners to produce media that informs, amplifies, and connects communities. During El Centro student Eddie Rivera’s internship, we experimented with Green Screen, digital effects, and learning to set up the microphone for interviews. It was great to see him gain confidence each week and watch the wheels turn as we discovered new possibilities with the medium!
